These Christian Bible devotions are taken from Creative Bible Study: A Collection of Words. Creative Bible study reaches past a moment of sitting and studying; it involves learning to walk through every moment of every day saying — "I spy God!”
What if we could connect everyday words to God’s Word, the Bible, to help us know and grow closer to The Word, Jesus? What if words could bring meaning to our life in a whole new way?

Clarity … the quality of being clear and understood. I am a rule follower. Therefore, clarity of understanding what is expected helps me feel secure in moving forward whether it’s with a project, instructions from someone, or life in general.
In January of 2025, clarity was the word I wrote in my journal for which I was searching in a new season of life. A few months later, I read the story of a Jesuit Philosopher, John Kavanaugh, meeting Mother Teresa and asking her to pray for him to have clarity as he pondered what was next in his future. She refused explaining he was clinging to clarity instead of trusting God. Instead, she prayed for him to trust God with the next step and the next.
Her answer makes me think of the challenge Paul gives in 2 Corinthians 5:7 CSB - “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” We are fairly confident walking around with our eyes open so we can see obstacles in our way, but what about when we are in the dark and can’t see very well? It is then we have to lean into our other senses such as reaching out making sure nothing is in our way. But what if there was someone we trusted to whom we could reach out, hold on, and allow them to guide us where we can’t see? That is faith, placing our trust in someone else and following their lead.
God calls us to trust Him. Many times, we want clarity so we can see what’s ahead and prepare on our own. God wants us to put our trust in Him, walking in faith allowing Him to lead where we can’t see, but He can! Proverbs 3:5-6 is a well-known verse and a great one to memorize and live by.
Father, please help me let go of the need for clarity and begin to totally trust You for every day, every step and where it will lead for Your Kingdom.
Abraham was a great example of walking in faith. Read Hebrews 11:8-12 and then go back and read his story in Genesis 12-25. Like many of the characters in the Bible, you’ll see Abraham was not perfect! He did follow a perfect God though, and we can too.

There are many ways to take in a view: we can look broadly across the landscape, use binoculars to zoom in on a specific object, take a photo to capture the view or we can see it from someone else’s view in a painting, photograph or video. There are so many views I would never have the opportunity to enjoy without those captured by others like in movies!
We can also use these when reading and studying the Bible:
* Take it all in — Reading a whole book or reading through the Bible gives us a larger view. Reading verses in context gives us a broader understanding.
* Zoom in — We can focus on one or two verses or a single Bible character making note of details we may otherwise overlook.
* Capture it — Like a photo, we can take Bible verses along with us by memorizing them or even writing them to take along with us to meditate on them.
* Someone else’s view — There are those who have gone before us or studied particular passages such as pastors, Bible teachers, and Bible study writers. We can see and learn from them helping us see things for which we didn’t even know to look.
What’s been your view today of God’s Word? Are we missing the greatest view of all?

Three words describe this book: random, organized, connected … random words have been placed in an organized format while connecting God’s Word to facets of His world in our everyday lives all for the purpose that we might grow to know Him better.
You’ll find a bit of science, a bit of history, a bit of philosophy and a bit of the everyday along the way. I hope you’ll even find a bit of fun and joy. Most of all, I hope you get a clearer glimpse of Who God is and how very much He loves you!
