One of my favorite activities as a child was finding sea shells at the beach. Although, I didn't live near a beach, my oldest sister did. Those are some wonderful memories as we searched for treasures in the sand.
Even now one of our family's favorite vacation spots is a beach on the Gulf Coast. At least once on each vacation all six of us (ten now) go on a walk to look for sea shells. Oh, the treasures we find, and the fun we have together as a family! The greatest treasure though was, and still is, to find a sand dollar! This is still the "ultimate find!" God has placed His signature on creation, and this special beach treasure has all the markings to tell the story of Jesus, the Gospel! Each includes a Christmas poinsettia on one side, a star in the center of an Easter lily on the other, five pierced holes, and when opened, tiny pieces which resemble small doves.

In case you'd like to know the face behind this website ... 🙂 My research and writing here on CreativeBibleStudy.com stems from a passion for personal learning & teaching God's Word to children, youth & women. I have been a pastor's wife for over thirty-nine years and have loved it! I am really "just" Susan though— just being real. I grew up in church learning the basic Bible stories, but never knew how they connected or was ever interested in reading the Bible. That all changed when I came to know Jesus personally! I hope this site inspires you to know Him and enjoy spending time with Him in His Word. There's so much I am still learning and enjoy sharing it here through Godprints and Bible object lessons for every day; I have in NO WAY arrived though! I am learning alongside you...along the way.
Being the wife of a minister has kept me very involved and provided a vast variety of teaching and speaking opportunities along with getting to serve alongside some really special people at churches of different sizes. This has helped me learn what teaching resources work for different areas and ages. I have a degree in Special Education and Library Science and have had the privilege of being a Christian school librarian. We also enjoyed owning and operating a couple of Christian bookstores along the way! Our greatest joy has been raising four great kids and now enjoying the blessings of grandchildren; they along with so many others have been the inspiration for much of CreativeBibleStudy.com!

Perfection is not going to happen in this life. A month ago I was so excited to have my book go to print! I had worked hard editing and felt like God was telling me to let it go ... put a pin in it! If I waited for perfection, it would never have gotten published. Fast forward almost 30 days, and don't you know as I was reading it, I found a mistake! I knew it wasn't perfect; in fact, I put a note in my "Thank You" in the back apologizing for any mistakes found. Some of the mistakes I came across were made when I was actually making a correction for something else; others ... just happened. I can't do "perfect;" I was still disappointed in myself though. Have you ever been there? I jumped right in again this week reading it from front to back looking for mistakes. This all brought to mind the chorus of Micah Tyler's new song "Perfectly."

"I give You failures, and You give me grace. All of my problems don't push You away. And somehow You love somebody like me. Don't know how You do it, but You do it perfectly. You do it perfectly."

God is perfect; so when I make mistakes in writing or in life, I can remember to lean into Him. One of the words in Creative Bible Study: A Collection of Words is "new." When we bought a "new" house for the first time, I learned that "new" does not mean "perfect!" In a similar way, when we become believers, we are made new—not perfect. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us this: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" The next time we begin striving for perfection, let's stop and remember we don't have to be perfect because we have a Savior Who loves us perfectly! And for those of you who already purchased my book with mistakes, here's a scavenger hunt for you with a few of them! Find the mistakes in the passages for the words: Aroma, Celebrate, Desert, Invisible, Journey, Peace, and Seasons. You may even find more! The good news is: Unlike my words and mistakes, God's Word is inerrant and infallible! Praise the Lord!
