Creative Bible Tidbits, Issue #56 - The Road of Perfection April 21, 2026 |
Moms & More ...
As we celebrate Mother's Day on May 10th, let's remember what a powerful influence moms are in our lives. If you are a mom, know that you are celebrated even when you may feel invisible. Read the following monologue and be encouraged.
April FocusVacation Bible School is right around the corner! VBS takes place in churches around the world each year. It's important. It impacts lives. It has eternal ramifications. BUT...it can't happen without volunteers like you and me. This single children's ministry event has benefits that go far beyond one week of the year both for the attendee and the VBS workers who volunteer their time and efforts. Whether we are young or older, there is something we can do during VBS to help out and impact kids for eternity.

A Personal Note ... Waiting on PerfectionPerfection is not going to happen in this life.A month ago I was so excited to have my book go to print! I had worked hard editing and felt like God was telling me to let it go ... put a pin in it! If I waited for perfection, it would never have gotten published. Fast forward almost 30 days, and don't you know as I was reading it, I found a mistake! I knew it wasn't perfect; in fact, I put a note in my "Thank You" in the back apologizing for any mistakes found. Some of the mistakes I came across were made when I was actually making a correction for something else; others ... just happened. I can't do "perfect;" I was still disappointed in myself though. Have you ever been there? I jumped right in again this week reading it from front to back looking for mistakes. I actually felt pretty good about the number I found. This all brought to mind the chorus of Micah Tyler's new song "Perfectly."
"I give You failures, and You give me grace. All of my problems don't push You away. And somehow You love somebody like me. Don't know how You do it, but You do it perfectly. You do it perfectly." God is perfect; so when I make mistakes in writing or in life, I can remember to lean into Him. One of the words in Creative Bible Study: A Collection of Words is "new." When we bought a "new" house for the first time, I learned that "new" does not mean "perfect!" In a similar way, when we become believers, we are made new—not perfect. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us this: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" The next time we begin striving for perfection, let's stop and remember we don't have to be perfect because we have a Savior Who loves us perfectly! And for the 38 or so people who purchased my book with mistakes, here's a scavenger hunt for you with a few of them! Find 7 of the 17 mistakes I found in the passages for the words: Aroma, Celebrate, Desert, Invisible, Journey, Peace, and Seasons. These are just a few of the ones I found; you may
find more! The good news is: Unlike my words and mistakes, God's Word is inerrant and infallible! Praise the Lord!
Bible Devotion-New Not Perfect Monthly HighlightThis month I've been recording the audios for some of the excerpts from Creative Bible Study: A Collection of Words. I've included them on the website, and they can be found
