Creative Prayer with Doodling

To doodle means to draw or scribble aimlessly while occupied with something else. What if we took doodling to a new level by giving it an aim and focus? Doodling has been such a fun way to make me slow down in my prayer time and meditate.

1. Doodle! Yes, just take a pen or pencil and do a little scribbling!

2. Jot! Fill in the spaces you created with broad prayer phrases like: “Thank You, Lord," "Please forgive me," "I praise You for," etc., or individual prayer requests of a person's name or initials or a situation. Don't feel like you have to fill in every space right away. You may want to leave some to add as the Holy Spirit leads you.

3. Color! Begin coloring the spaces as you pray for what you have written in each. Continue to add more as you open your mind and heart to the Lord. And don’t forget to listen! Read in Matthew 6 where Jesus teaches about prayer.
