Creative Bible Tidbits, Issue #60 - Finding Unity in the Unknown August 28, 2026 |
Unity in God's FamilyOne of the words in Creative Bible Study: A Collection of Words is: UNITY. Another word for unity is harmony. Think of an orchestra with each instrument uniquely playing their individual parts all from the same sheet of music and creating the beautiful sound of oneness. Even though they are vastly different, they unite with one purpose. Take time to read Ephesians 4; be looking for the word "unity," while also noticing the words "all" and "one." Even though we are all different, when we focus on the fact we are all one family in Christ, we can move toward unity. Another fun way to illustrate unity is with the Skittles Science Object Lesson found on our Object Lesson page. As the water touches the Skittles, their uniqueness begins to move closer to the other colors while all continue moving towards the point in the center. They don't lose their uniqueness, but as they come together they create something bigger—a beautiful rainbow of colors! May we strive to do the same in Christ, by the power of His Holy Spirit, and all for the Father's glory.
Unity in the UnknownsThis unity is what I experienced this past week when facing an "unknown." Doing something for the first time can be hard and even scary. Our local Christian Bookstore invited me to do a book signing. I had no clue what to expect.
What I found was far from worrisome! I was reminded again how very important community is; being a part of God's big family is a huge blessing! We are able to give and receive encouragement; we share joys and sorrows; we serve together as one body. I am so grateful for each and every person who stopped by!
Unity in Christ is a gift. We don't walk this path alone anymore; we have both the LORD and His family. We belong!
"Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity." Colossians 3:14 NLT "Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from His love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too." Philippians 2:1-5
May we be challenged and encouraged today. As believers in Christ, we are not alone! You matter! You belong and are needed!
