Creative Bible Study: A Collection of Words
May Focus — Volunteer ChallengeVBS, Vacation Bible School, takes place in churches around the world each year. It's important. It impacts lives. It has eternal ramifications. BUT...it can't happen without volunteers like you and me; it takes a lot of preparation and there is something for everyone to do!This single children's ministry event has benefits that go far beyond one week of the year both for the attendee and the VBS workers who volunteer their time and efforts. But what if you can’t serve that week of Vacation Bible School? Maybe you’re going to be out of town or already have obligations or bad health. But you can: *Pray! This is SO important! Possibly get a list of those that are able to work and pray for God to use them in supernatural ways! Pray for the kids that will attend and their families! *Encourage: Be a Barnabas to those that are going to work that week through a text, note, or face-to-face encouragement. *Part-time before or after: Help cut out decorations beforehand, set-up, prepare snacks, register children, etc. Or help with clean up and take down the last day; trust me, those tired volunteers will love a few extra helping hands at the end! *Financial Support: Yes, most churches have budgets for VBS, but those don't always cover the expenses. Find out if this is a need you can help with. *Follow-up notes: Write and send follow up notes or thank you notes to volunteers for your church. Making that connection after all is said and done helps kids know they still matter and volunteers feel appreciated. :) There are so many important needs that surround VBS and each is important! No small deed or action is too small…it’s all ministry as the Body of Christ works together! So what part will you fill in your church’s VBS this year? Let's prayerfully consider volunteering and make a difference; glorify God!
A Personal NoteSummer is almost here, and I am so looking forward to having all our family together under one roof in just a few weeks! To top it off, this roof will be on a condo rental at the beach! The beach is our family's "happy place," well...for most of us! We have a couple of guys who enjoy being on the pier fishing. ☺️We love to walk the beach looking for sea shells. It's really interesting watching other shell seekers too! There are:
*Big shell-seekers- these are only watching for the "big scores" - those that can easily be seen and quickly grabbed. *Sifters - these scoop up nets filled with sand and shell pieces in hopes that there may be some whole shells they can pick out and keep. *Waders - these give it all they have! They'll wade out in the water getting their clothes wet in hopes of seeing that special illusive shell! (In our family it's the search for sand dollars!) *Micro-seekers - these stop, bend down, and really seek out the tiny treasures left along the wayside that others have missed.
In watching all of this, it caused me to wonder - what type of "God-seekers" are we? Are we only noticing the big blessings that are obvious? Are we sorting through the pieces of life in hopes of finding a glimpse of Him? Are we willing to take risks and wade out into unknown waters? Are we stopping along the way long enough to notice the tiniest of His blessings? Let's not miss out on Him anywhere! Let's seek Him everywhere! He want to be found!
