Christian Devotions

Christian devotions are pauses in our busy schedules to refocus on what's important in life.  This Godprint devotion takes a pair of glasses and relates them to how the Holy Spirit can help us refocus and see life more clearly.

"Do You See What I See?"
Christian Devotions

Yes, that’s part of the lyrics of a song we normally sing at Christmas time; so why am I mentioning it here in the middle of January?  Christmas is over…right?

Sometimes I feel like this is what God is asking me – “Do you see what I see?”

Do you see the young mother that needs encouragement?  Do you see the child that needs hope?  Do you see My love, My grace?  Do you see?

It’s so easy in our busy worlds to lose sight of the spiritual realm around us.  I know in my own life I can become so focused on the physical and all that is going on around me, I miss seeing the reality of His Kingdom…His calling in the “dailies”.

You see, I am a planner by nature…I love to think and “figure” things out.  This may sound like a good thing, and it can be…but it also can cause me to become blind to God’s work in and around me when I become so focused on what “I” see.  I tend to see the world with the eyes of my head (aka – mind) and forget to see with the eyes of my heart.

In Ephesians 1:18, Paul prays for his fellow believers –

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.”

Looking at our world through our mind’s eyes can bring stress, worry, fear, depression and hopelessness.  But Jesus came that we may have life AND light.  He gives us spiritual eyes to see! [2 Corinthians 4:6;] [2 Corinthians 3:16]

So this week my prayer is that we may see God working in and around us.  May we allow His Holy Spirit to be our glasses through which we see life differently than the world sees.

Just as in the song the message passes from the wind to the little lamb to the shepherd boy to the might king, may we also share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ Who brought us salvation filled with goodness & light!

Object Lessons as Christian Devotions

Here’s our Object Lesson using glasses that can be adapted for any age as a Bible lesson or included with other interactive Christian devotions.

Lyrics for "Do You Hear What I Hear"

Said the night wind to the little lamb,
do you see what I see
Way up in the sky, little lamb,
do you see what I see
A star, a star, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy,
do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy,
do you hear what I hear
A song, a song, high above the trees
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king,
do you know what I know
In your palace warm, mighty king,
do you know what I know
A Child, a Child shivers in the cold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Let us bring Him silver and gold

Said the king to the people everywhere,
listen to what I say
Pray for peace, people everywhere!
listen to what I say
The Child, the Child, sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light
